Baker's Tips
Use cold milk and cold butter directly from the fridge. There is no need to let them come to room temperature before baking.
🥄 Do not overmix
Mix the dough only until it comes together.
⚖️ Keep the cookies even
Try to use the same amount of dough for each cookie so they bake evenly and have a consistent texture.
Directions
Preheat the oven to 340°F (170°C).
Step 2 – Prepare the Dough Base
In the mixer bowl fitted with the coating beater, add the One Bottle Bakery mix and stir for a few seconds to help release the aromas.
Add the cold butter in large pieces and the honey. Mix on low to medium speed for about 3 minutes, until the mixture becomes crumbly.
Step 3 – Add the Wet Ingredients
Add the milk, orange zest, and the egg. Mix until the dough comes together. Do not overmix; it should come together in about 2–3 minutes.
Step 4 – Shape the Koulourakia
There is no need to let the dough rest.
Shape the dough into traditional koulourakia twists or any shape you want and place them on parchment-lined baking trays, leaving space between each cookie. Try to use the same amount of dough for each cookie so they bake evenly.
Step 5 – Bake
Brush with egg wash and bake at 340°F (170°C) for 20–25 minutes, until lightly golden.
